COMPUTING FOR THE BEWILDERED
BEGINNERS
Matters arising from the meeting on 11th October 2002

Wow!  Twenty nine students - I'm gobsmacked.  I never realised there was such a demand.  You're all very welcome, and I hope you're not too put off by the rather cramped conditions with such numbers.  After "matters arising", with which I start every class, the main thrust of the session was on hardware - what all these terms such as hard disk, floppy disk, RAM etc actually refer to and, as far as I could, to show you what they looked like.  I hoped you enjoyed your tours round the two opened system boxes I brought for your examination.  Considerable interest was shown in the abilities of a scanner.  If attendances keep as high as they are, we should soon have enough money to afford one.  Just a reminder -  next week, please bring your keyboards.  If you are a student in my beginners class, and have actually found your way to this page, you have done well.  If you're not a beginner, and are just being nosey well, fair enough
