- Intermediate Classes
(Very Provisional) Syllabus
This is a brief resumé of what will be covered during
the sessions. It is not fixed in tablets of stone. After the mid
session interval, there will be
plenty of opportunity for students to discuss other matters which may arise
from time to time. The amount of revision of topics already covered, and the
speed at which we proceed will be determined by the needs of the (average) students.
- Before Christmas:

Revision: Turning on and off, the keyboard, hardware and software, commercial
matters, the Internet.

- "Office" applications: Word processing
and Spreadsheet

- File management: organising files, creating, moving,
copying and deleting files. The File Allocation Table. File paths
under Windows and Unix.

- Computer housekeeping: Defragmentation, backup, cleaning
of unwanted files, the registry

- After Christmas

- The Internet: Software download and installation;
ZIPs and RARs, FTP, binary newsgroups.

- Websites: The very basics of HTML
